Holding the Man Premiere Screening
Ahead of its October return, Adelaide Film Festival will be warming up local film lovers with the premiere screening of the highly anticipated Australian film, Holding The Man.
Starring Ryan Corr, Craig Stott, Guy Pearce, Kerry Fox and Adelaide acting exports Anthony LaPaglia and Sarah Snook, Holding The Man is based on the much loved and hugely successful memoir and stage play of the same name.
Holding The Man will have its Adelaide premiere on Thursday August 20, at 6.30pm, at Palace Nova Cinemas, ahead of its national cinema release on August 27.
Directed by Neil Armfield, Holding The Man is the warm, funny and emotional story of the 15-year long love affair between Timothy Conigrave and the boy he fell in love with at high school, John Caleo.
Tim was an aspiring actor. John, the captain of the school football team. Their relationship blossomed and endured in the face of everything life threw at it – pride, adversity, discrimination, temptation and loss - until the only problem that love couldn’t solve, tried to destroy them.
Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) Director Amanda Duthie said she was thrilled to host the exclusive Adelaide event and welcome director Neil Armfield and producer Kylie Du Fresne to town as guests of AFF.
“We are delighted to present this special screening of Neil’s strong and intense love story – a heartfelt adaptation of a book held dear for so many decades,’’ Amanda said today.

Adelaide Film Festival returns October 15-25, promising to highlight the best of local, Australian and internationally produced films, with an eclectic mix of cinema, music, TV and art and the moving image - highlights will be released August 12, with full program announced September 9.
