Winner of Cannes 2024 Palme d’Or, Sean Baker’s Anora cements him as one of the cinematic greats.

Winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes this year, Anora is a thrilling tragicomedy that reimagines Pretty Woman and solidifies director Sean Baker's status as a cinematic great.

Young sex worker Anora meets Ivan, the ultra-wealthy son of a Russian oligarch. She is swept into his lavish world, and soon they are married. News of their union reaches Ivan’s family, who will stop at nothing to annul the marriage. Ivan’s parents, accompanied by two intimidating heavies, descend from Russia, only to discover that Anora is a formidable opponent.

Mikey Madison delivers an unforgettable performance as Anora, while Mark Eidelstein, dubbed the Russian Timothée Chalamet, is a breakout star to watch. Their on-screen chemistry crackles with intensity.

Sean Baker's masterful direction and writing ensures a fast-paced narrative, blending thrilling drama with sharp comedy. Anora is a must-see film that delights, captivates, and celebrates womanhood.

"The visceral undertow that Anora is able to create between the collective urgency of its characters and the inescapable chokehold of their aspirations eventually crashes ashore with enough power to crush you in your seat."

David Ehrlich, IndieWire

"The story reaches a new pitch of Coen brothers-style black comedy. Then, just when you think you have it worked out, Baker hits you with a final scene of sobering poignancy."
