Decorado
Arnold, a mouse with his marriage and sanity on the line, is convinced his world is fake. When proven right, he draws from the help of his best friend's ghost and the outcast Mr. Mushroom to hatch an escape from both his town and A.L.M.A., the megacorporation controlling it.
Through anarchy and a cavalcade of colourful creatures, Decorado turns a mirror on the absurdity of an everyday existence that seems to have been written by someone else, and then questions what could be the alternative. What started as a short, animated film in 2016 has grown into a feature by the same filmmaker, Alberto Vázquez, offering a timely exploration of the human condition through anthropomorphic animals. Arnold is a middle-aged mouse in an existential crisis. He lives in constant suspicion because, unlike his wife María, he has long felt that the world is unreal – fake – just like a film set. When Arnold’s paranoia is proven true, the ghost of his best friend and the outcast Mr. Mushroom help him hatch a cunning plan to escape their town and the all-encompassing social and economic control of A.L.M.A. (Almighty Limitless Megacorporative Agency).
