Acknowledgement of Country

Adelaide Film Festival acknowledges that we work and celebrate screen culture on Kaurna Country. We pay our respects to Kaurna Elders past, present and emerging and recognise their culture, beliefs, and relationship with the Adelaide Plains. We would also like to acknowledge Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia as the first storytellers.

AFF Change Award Jury

Established in 2020, the $5000 Change Award is for positive or environmental impact and cinema expressing new directions for humanity. This year’s films express the urgency for change - with crises in climate and the environment, in the world’s ongoing brutal conflicts and in human rights abuses.

These are challenging stories with some told with great immediacy and others with a poetic artfulness. They show humanity at its most complacent and at its worst, but also demonstrate humanity’s capacity to inspire with profound bravery and occasionally just with the ratbag energy of the community activist.

The Change Award Jury are all leaders in their fields, including factual filmmaking, environmental activism and changemaking.

AFF Shorts Award Jury

AFF acknowledges the fresh and new voices that shorts bring to cinema. One filmmaker is recognised for their outstanding work with the AFF 2025 Shorts Award valued at $3,000. Chosen by a jury representing South Australia’s local industry - a leading cinema programmer, an emerging First Nations filmmaker and one of our most distinctive contemporary directors.
